The Kemmer Stock Hybrid Squirrel Dog, originally called the Old Cajun Squirrel Dog was bred and developed by Robert Kemmer. It got its Cajun name when Mr. Kenner worked with Calvin Boutte known as Cajun, regarding breeding program. Cajun Cur is very good at hunting and treeing squirrels. Some also like to hunt racoons and other similar mammals.Appearance:

Appearance:

The Cajun Cur has black and white, red, yellow, yellow and white, reddish, blue, or blue brindle coat.   It usually has a medium coat, having a soft undercoat. It has short coat, keen body and long legs. Usually 20-35 pounds in weight and 16-19 inches in length.

Temperament:

The Kemmer Stock Hybrid Squirrel Dog has a good hunting ability and can also be kids’ playing buddy. It is very active and alert. Its caretaker should be firm, consistent, confident but firm. It needs heavy mental and physical exercise to divert its hyperactivity.

Health:

Cajun Cur’s life expectancy is between 12-14 years. Deafness and hip dysplasia are the major health issues connected with this breed. When those conditions are detected earlier in this breed, owners have to choose between letting them leave their place or perform euthanasia.
